Stockbridge Townhouse

Stockbridge Townhouse

Orocco worked with the Architect K-Arc and Gita Interior Design to transform and expand a residence located at the heart of Stockbridge, Edinburgh’s picturesque community. The project involved meticulous restoration of the property’s exterior stonework, including chimney renovations, the addition of new inbands and lintels, and comprehensive repointing.

MadeByOrocco skillfully crafted a custom vestibule door that harmonised perfectly with the property’s overall character. The hallway received a makeover with unique black and white patterned tiling and stylish decor.

The living space was expanded by adding a sandstone extension, complete with bespoke fluting detail above the window and door. This extension showcases an oriel window offering picturesque views of Stockbridge. The pocket external sliding door seamlessly connects the interior to the garden, allowing natural light to flood the space.

One of the home’s standout features is the pool room, where a pool table doubles as a dining table for entertaining guests. The ceiling in this room is a one-of-a-kind from Mr & Mrs Bell Art & Design. Friends of the clients, the idea originated from Gita Interior Design, as a way to tie the room to the where the Whisky collection is from, Islay. The room houses part of the impressive Whisky collection displayed in a bespoke cabinet.

To enhance energy efficiency and increase natural light, a double-glazed rooflight was installed. The existing stone treads on the staircase were polished in preparation for the new carpet, while wall panelling was incorporated to enhance the character of the Georgian townhouse. Existing sash and case windows and shutters were meticulously upgraded to restore their timeless appeal.

The ground floor bathroom underwent a stunning transformation, featuring luxurious marble tiles and a beautifully sourced bathroom suite from Victor Paris. Mirrors sourced from Mark Smith Glazing were strategically placed in the bathrooms to add depth and style.

Designed for socialising with friends and family, the home features a well-appointed drinks bar. This area includes a bespoke pocket door that opens to reveal oak floating shelves, recessed LED lighting strips, an antique mirror, and an integrated fridge.

The attic bedroom is adorned with hand-painted artwork, showcasing intricate details on both the walls and ceiling. Meanwhile, the basement bedroom boasts an original fireplace and a custom wardrobe meticulously crafted and fitted by MadeByOrocco. Additionally, a practical boot room was installed in the property, featuring bespoke oak shelving also created by MadeByOrocco.
