The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is an annual event held each August outside the Castle, which Orocco were lucky enough to play a small part in.
Firstly, we were able to fit high-quality glass doors in the events head office on Cockburn Street. Working for one of Scotlands most famous institutions, we were able to learn more about the event’s history and objectives. We couldn’t believe that over 200,000 people visit the show each year! You can see the photo below of the purpose-built doors that helped bring light and transparency into the working space!
As well as the doors, Orocco also built a number of benches to be used in the VIP suite in the tattoo. These were created using high-quality Oak, which when varnished let off a natural finish.
As these would be an important backdrop for the venue, we wanted them to reflect the Scottish culture at the heart of the event. We did this through upholstering the bench with the tartan tweed of the Military Tattoo tartan.
Along with the benches we built 3 pop up bar units, with the same finish. The whole team was delighted with the final product, which you can see in the following photos. We’re sure these will get put to great use in August.
Orocco were over the moon to provide this service for such an important event and it was great to hear about how much time and effort goes into making it so special. We wish the entire Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo team, and everyone involved the best of luck for this year’s show!
