The works carried out created much needed extra space with the addition of a single storey extension and re-arrangement of part of the interior of this lovely property in Arboretum Road.
We created a single storey extension by integrating the outhouse with the main building thus forming a spacious new kitchen, dining and utility area. The existing slab wall was broken out and a large aperture opening formed which created a modern, light filled space. Wrap around sliding doors and the addition of a skylight flood the space with natural light.
We opened up this area further from the dining room to open up the access to the newly created space. The utility room was subdivided to provide additional storage in the recreated living room and also provided a utility space concealed off the main kitchen area.
The existing kitchen was sealed off to allow a new access to the bedroom and this area was then transformed into a large, en-suite bathroom, complete with a new bathroom suite which has served to modernise and enhance what was once a small shower room.
Internally further enhancements were made by our sister company MadeByOrocco. They designed and built a custom-made book shelf with ladder for the study which created both a beautiful and useful feature for this room. MadeByOrocco also created an inset shelving unit solution for one of the Edinburgh Presses in the bedroom providing much needed storage and in the second bedroom they hand made a wall-to-wall wardrobes with extensive storage, custom sprayed to match the room décor thus providing a very attractive and functional storage solution.
Finally, the flooring in the drawing room was restored to it’s original, natural appearance completing a sympathetic and charming refurbishment.
Externally the new stonework has been carefully matched into the existing structure and matches beautifully with the original finish of the building. A raised decking area and flowerbed complete the very attractive exterior appearance of this carefully thought-out extension.
